Mid-semester reports provide a general overview of student achievement and participation across key learning areas. At this stage of the year, they reflect a mix of progress checks, informal assessments, and graded end-of-unit tasks.
These will go live for parents through the My Marist Portal on Friday 11 April. Please note that the Junior School have already had their Term 1 Parent Teacher Interviews. The next formal Parent Teacher interviews for the Junior School will take place at the end of Term 2, when Semester One reports have been finalised.
Reminders

From the Library
2025 Chief Minister's Reading Challenge!
Marist College is once again excited to have all Junior School students participating in the Chief Minister's Reading Challenge! This event encourages students to read a greater number and wider variety of books between Term 1 and Term 3. Books can be from any genre, including novels, non-fiction, poetry, eBooks, and audiobooks.
All registration paperwork and reading record sheets will be completed at school. Junior School students already complete a detailed reading log as part of their Library work so this will complement that.
How can you support your son?
Recent research highlights the importance of parental involvement in reading for student success. Did you know that 86% of primary and secondary students loved being read to at home (Understanding Australian Readers: Behavioural Insights into Recreational Reading, 2025)? The Chief Minister's Reading Challenge includes books read aloud to students, so this is a perfect opportunity to share a book together. Aside from this, we appreciate you creating regular opportunities for reading - whether at home, in the car, on the bus, or wherever they find a comfortable spot.
If you have any questions about the Chief Minister’s Reading Challenge please don’t hesitate to contact your son’s teacher librarian: Karen Collins, Monica Simpson, Anne McHenry or Josie Borgia.
Library closed for parent teacher interviews
Please note, the Library will be closed after school for Senior School students on Wednesday 30 April (Week 11) due to Parent Teacher Interviews.
ePlatform - Our digital library
As the term break approaches, many students are taking full advantage of the chance to borrow a wide range of print books for the holidays. Meanwhile, others are finding delight in eBooks and audiobooks. Marist College offers an extensive digital library of these resources, specially curated for both primary and secondary students.
To access the Marist digital library, students can click here and log in using their student ID. Students can also download the ePlatform by Wheelers app to their device to listen or read while on the go.
If you have any questions or would like support accessing the digital library, please contact Karen Collins.

Enrolling now for 2026
Enrolling now for 2026
Applications are now being accepted from current families who may be considering enrolling their son/s not already at the College into Years 4 – 12.
A reminder that applications for Years 4, 5, 6 and 7 need to be received no later than 31 May 2025 to be considered for enrolment starting in 2026.
We would also encourage current families to let any friends who may be interested in enrolment know that they can now apply online.
Important reminder for Year 6 and Year 10 families
A reminder that families with sons currently in Years 6 and 10 at the College do not need to re-enrol their son into Year 7 or Year 11.
Our expectation is that once a student is enrolled at the College, their enrolment will continue until the completion of their studies in Year 12.

Give life with Marist College Canberra Harry B’s Heroes
Harry is a vibrant and resilient four-year-old who loves Spiderman and Mario, riding his bike, and playing with his big sister Emily and little brother Louis. Harry is the son of Rebecca Buckland, one of our Junior School teachers and Tom a Marist Old Boy (2008). Recently, Harry was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer that develops in nerve tissue, most commonly affecting children under five. His treatment has been incredibly challenging, involving multiple invasive procedures, chemotherapy, and extended hospital stays. So far, Harry has required six bags of donated blood and two bags of platelets—both of which have been essential in helping his body recover from intensive treatments. In Australia, one in three people will need blood in their lifetime, yet only one in 30 donates. Blood and platelet donations are critical for children like Harry, as they help replenish vital cells lost during treatment and support recovery. To help give back and ensure supplies remain available for those in need, Harry’s family has started a Lifeblood team called Harry B’s Heroes, where donations can be made in his name.
If you are eligible to donate, we encourage you to consider joining the team and making a life-saving difference.
Have you ever wondered what blood donations are used for? Treatments for cancer and blood diseases make up the highest percentage of blood products. It's why Lifeblood needs donors to keep donating, because the need for blood never stops.
Join our Marist College Canberra Harry B’s Heroes Lifeblood Team and book a donation today. 1, 2, 3, Give!
Register a blood donor account lifeblood.com.au, if you don’t already have one.
Make it count! Join our Lifeblood Team - go to ‘Teams’, choose ‘My Teams’ and search for 'Marist College Canberra Harry B's Heroes'.
