Junior School Parent/Teacher Interviews
Reminder - Week 1 of Term 3
Thank you to the many families who have already booked their Parent/Teacher interview for the beginning of Term 3. We ask that all Junior School families take the opportunity to book in as soon as possible for their Parent/Teacher meeting through our Parent Portal.
The objectives of our Junior School Parent/Teacher interviews are to:
- learn more about your son’s academic, emotional, and social development
- meet and get to know your child’s teacher – interviews will be in person and help your child’s teachers understand more about your child
- make plans with the teacher about how you can both support your son in the coming semester to achieve their goals on reflection of their Semester One Report
- build a relationship with your son’s teacher and give you an opportunity to raise any concerns you may have with your child’s teacher if you haven’t done so already.
The Crimson Firefly Circus
Tickets on sale!
Tickets are on sale for the College’s Little Brothers production for 2022, ‘The Crimson Firefly Circus’ by Sandra Shotlander.
The performances of this exciting new play will take place on Thursday 4 August – Saturday 6 August 2022 at 7.00pm in the Senior Hall.
Featuring students in Years 4-10, the play will take us on a journey from Bertolucci's Circus in a small country town in Australia to the slopes of the Andes!
Companion Card
The Companion Card program enables people with a disability who require life-long attendant care support from a companion to attend participating venues or activities without incurring the cost of a second ticket for their companion.
People with a disability, who require attendant care support, are often required to pay two admission fees (one for themselves and another for their companion) when, without the support of the companion, they would not be able to participate at the venue or activity. The Companion Card was developed to remove this barrier.
If you or somebody you know is living with disability and holds a Companion Card, then please come along or offer an invitation to our performance.
Companion Cards can be applied for online via the ACT Government.

Props, Sets and Wardrobe needed
The following are needed for ‘The Crimson Firefly Circus’:
- 1 x old DSLR camera that is not working anymore
- 1 x wooden hat stand
- 10 x trench coats in black, dark brown or other dark colours, and
- 1 x standard single bed mattress – preferably foam and not sprung.

Vinnies Winter Appeal
Thank you!
The Marist Vinnies groups would like to thank everyone for their support and kind donations for this year’s Vinnies Winter Appeal.
The donations of non-perishable food, warm blankets, winter clothing and hygiene-related items have been handed over to St Vincent de Paul Canberra/Goulburn for distribution to those in need within the Canberra community.
The Fathering Project
Invitation
The College has partnered with The Fathering Project to provide additional support for our young people.
The aim is to bring together fathers and father-figures of our school and their children for a few events each year.
The group includes, but is not limited to fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, uncles, older brothers (who are mature enough to take on this role), a trusted male family member or friend. As is so often the case (especially at our dads and kids events), mums are also very welcome to attend.
The Dad’s Group is a fun and social way to get to know each other, support the community and most importantly, spend some quality time with our sons and daughters. Siblings are welcome at these events as they are inclusive and not limited to students of the College.
The goal is to have one event per term. People are encouraged to register with the Marist Dad’s Group where you will learn more about our events and access a wide range of resources that provide ideas for engaging with your children.
