What's On - 27 July 2022

There will again be a social justice focus to this year’s Walkathon, with funds raised going towards:

• Catholic Care – Mackillop House
• Australian Marist Solidarity Appeal
• Trinity College Lismore Flood Appeal, and the 
• Br Mark May Bursary Fund.  

Given the emphasis on helping those in need within the community, we seek your strong support in meeting our sponsorship aim. 

Parent volunteers are needed on the day to help with checkpoint duties and/or with the BBQ lunch for students. If you can spare a couple of hours (or more), please complete the attached electronic survey. Our volunteers are crucial in ensuring both the safety of walkers and the provision of service at the BBQ lunch.

Tickets are on sale for the College’s Little Brothers production for 2022, ‘The Crimson Firefly Circus’ by Sandra Shotlander.

The performances of this exciting new play will take place on Thursday 4 August – Saturday 6 August 2022 at 7.00pm in the Senior Hall. 

Featuring students in Years 4-10, the play will take us on a journey from Bertolucci's Circus in a small country town in Australia to the slopes of the Andes!

The Companion Card program enables people with a disability who require life-long attendant care support from a companion to attend participating venues or activities without incurring the cost of a second ticket for their companion.

People with a disability, who require attendant care support, are often required to pay two admission fees (one for themselves and another for their companion) when, without the support of the companion, they would not be able to participate at the venue or activity. The Companion Card was developed to remove this barrier.

If you or somebody you know is living with disability and holds a Companion Card, then please come along or offer an invitation to our performance.

Companion Cards can be applied for online via the ACT Government.

The Art Department are proud to present our Student Art, Photography and Graphic Design Exhibition for Semester One 2022.

This online Exhibition showcases some of the outstanding work by our talented students in Years 7 to 12. The works range from painting, ceramics, and wire sculpting, through to photography, digital art and more.

Service is fundamental to the College, ensuring that all of our students are aware of the call on their lives to give to those who go without. At school, there are groups that meet to discuss needs and to raise funds and carry out projects to help those in need.

There are also various one-off opportunities both at school and beyond. Boys are encouraged to find something they are interested in where they can give their time and energy, whether it’s run by the College or by another group.

Students’ service is acknowledged through MATES hours and awards corresponding to the amount of service they complete.

The College invites all Marist mothers in our community to a free Twilight Retreat on Wednesday 10 August 2022, starting at 5.30pm with refreshments. The theme will be ‘Care for the Caregiver’.

The purpose of the Retreat will be to offer mothers who care for loved ones on a day-to-day basis a time to reflect on their role as caregiver.

The Retreat will provide time to explore ways of practicing self-care when you feel stretched or when your situation changes unexpectedly. 

From students who are preparing for high-level examinations right through to those at the very beginning of their journey, these events give all of our young musicians a chance to shine in a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
