The Junior School singing competition is back and is scheduled for Friday 9 September, after a COVID forced hiatus. The House Captains have chosen the theme for this year – 1980s classics.

Each House has chosen their songs and had their first practice. The House Captains did a fantastic job, as did the teachers: 

• Dempsey - ‘Eye of the Tiger’
• Chisholm - ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’
• Hartigan – ‘The Final Countdown’
• O’Donoghue - ‘Living on a Prayer’

During Junior School PE classes in Weeks 6-10 of this term, students will undertake the following activities:

• Mr Galvin’s classes: ‘Hit, Strike, Catch’
• Mr McMahon and Mr Barclay’s classes: Sof Crosse

Classes will then cover either ‘Hit, Strike, Catch’ or Sof Crosse next term in Weeks 1-5 of Term Four. 

Please ensure boys have their names on all water bottles, school hats and tracksuit tops. 

School photos for students in Years 7–11 were distributed this week. Any uncollected photos can be collected from the Deputy Headmaster’s Office during recess and lunchtimes.

Photos for Junior School students were distributed to classroom teachers last week. If a Junior School boy was absent last week, please contact his classroom teacher to arrange collection.

Photos of Year 12 students will be distributed tomorrow, Thursday 25 August, at lunchtime in the Forum.

If you have ordered a photo for your son, please remind him to collect them as soon as possible.

If a Year 12 student is away tomorrow, the photos can be collected from the Deputy Headmaster’s office during recess and lunchtimes. 

For Year 7 families in 2023, you should have received a survey via email from the Year 7 Coordinator seeking information to assist with House placement for next year.

Families are asked to please complete this survey by this Friday, 2 September.

The College is currently advertising teaching and support staff positions commencing in 2023 or sooner. Full details are available on the College website. 

We are also seeking experienced casual cleaning staff to carry out internal cleaning duties at the College. Shifts are available Monday to Friday from 3.30pm – 7.30pm during school terms, and as required over the school holidays. Please refer to the Position Description (Cleaner) for full details or contact the Facilities Manager on 0408 881 885.  

A reminder that registrations for the 2022-23 cricket season are now open via PlayHQ.

Registrations are now open for students who wish to play Indoor Hockey for the College during the 2022-23 summer season.

The 2022-23 rowing season runs from the commencement of Term 4 2022 to the end of Term 1 2023.

Marist College Canberra Rowing Club (MCCRC) membership is open to boys in Year 6 2022 through to Year 11 2022. New rowers are generally accepted up to Year 8. Applications from boys in higher year groups will be assessed individually and can not be guaranteed.
