Progressive Achievement Testing Program at the College 2021
Upcoming dates
During Term One, all new students at the College from Years 4 - 7 will participate in Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT) in Mathematics, Vocabulary, Reading, and Science.
PAT tests are designed to assess each student’s current capability against the appropriate standard for their age. On their scheduled PAT sessions, all students will be required to bring their device (fully charged) to complete the PAT assessments. Students in Years 4-6 will be supplied with a College-issued device.
The PAT testing schedule is as follows:
- Year 4 - completed in-classes by Friday 19 February
- Years 5/6 (New students only) - Thursday 11 February: 8.50am - 10.20am, Period 1 and 2, in the Senior Hall
- Year 7 (New students only) - Thursday 11 February: 11.10am – 12.50pm, Period 3 and 4, in the Senior Hall.
Unlike NAPLAN, the PAT assessments do not generate a student/parent report. However, student data is available to our teachers and is a valuable source of information on each student’s development from year to year. Teachers use PAT data as one of the many tools to assess student progress and growth. This information is another useful tool for identifying those students who require extra support or extension in their studies.
The PAT testing process will be explained to all students and should not be seen as a stressful ‘pass or fail’ assessment. Students will be encouraged to view the tests as a way for teachers to learn more about their capabilities and then design programs that enhance their learning. If you have any concerns about the PAT testing process, please contact Grant Barclay.
