Coming up for air
We are slowly coming up for air after a long period enduring COVID-19. As we approach the final days of the semester, there is a prevailing sense that we have come a long way since the academic year commenced and much has been achieved under the most challenging of circumstances. I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to our staff and parent community for all they have done in the past few months supporting the boys in their learning. Most boys deserve our congratulations for their perseverance and grit in managing online learning and the many changes to normal routine. Dealing with obstacles and facing disappointment while still maintaining a commitment are some of the most important lessons in life for achieving continuous improvement and growth. It remains our hope that many of the postponed co-curricular and significant College events will, once again, be part of the fullness of life at Marist in the coming terms. A revised calendar will be published before the commencement of Semester Two.
I wish all of the Marist family a safe, happy and relaxing holiday. May these few weeks be a time of rest, renewal and an opportunity to restore the balance of life. As we pause to gather breath over the coming weeks, it is also a time to be grateful and to acknowledge the many within our community and across the world who have and continue to face the most challenging circumstances – please keep them in our prayers.
