Marist is a Singing School: Join a Choir!
All students recently participated in singing rehearsals for Commencement Mass. The boys have been perfectly behaved and have sung with great sensitivity. This again proves that we have a very special community here at Marist.
In 2020, we will be running three co-curricular choirs at Marist for those that want to use their voices more. This will enable the students to progress at a pace that suits them and their friends through a seamless transition.
We have some staffing changes in 2020 as Mrs Lloyd will be on long service leave during Term One.
The following ensembles will be running. The year levels are indications only and students are encouraged to sing with the group that best fits their personality and vocal journey.
Junior Choir will be directed by Mrs Fittler:
- Rehearsals are yet to commence but will be advertised in the coming weeks.
- This is our main performance choir for unchanged voices.
- It is best suited to students in approximately Years 4-7.
Song Club will be directed by Ms Griffiths in Term 1 and Mr Schindler from Term 2 onwards:
- Rehearsals are on Fridays from 3.30pm to 4.30pm.
- This is our main developmental choir focussing on changing voice technique and confidence.
- It is best suited to students in approximately Years 7-10.
Vox, formerly known as the Senior Choir, will be directed by Mr Schindler in Term 1:
- This group will combine with Canberra Girls Grammar School (CGGS) in Term 1.
- Rehearsals are on Tuesdays from 3.30pm to 5.00pm at CGGS.
- This is our main performance choir for changed voices.
- Some performances may require confident unchanged voices.
- It is best suited to students in approximately Years 9-12.
In Term 2, Mrs Lloyd will direct Vox and rehearsals will be on Tuesdays from 3.30pm to 5.00pm at the College.
