Br François Service Medal Recipient – Matthew Wilson (2017)
The Br François Medal is presented to an ex-student of the College who has demonstrated that he continues to keep the faith through service to others. The medal is named after one of the earliest Brothers, Br François (Gabriel Rivat) who joined the Little Brothers of Mary at the time of St Marcellin and became the first Superior-General of the order.
The 2023 recipient of the medal is Matthew Wilson. Matt graduated from the College in 2017 and has been passionate and committed in supporting young people through a wide range of circumstances, especially those who are vulnerable due to mental health issues, have disabilities or been negatively impacted by circumstances. He has worked for the St Vincent de Paul Society and Catholic Care. Currently, Matt manages a reunification program that supports young people experiencing abuse or conflict or who are at risk of homelessness, and he continues to be a proud advocate for mental health and youth justice.
At our College Assembly on Friday 1 September, we presented Matt with the Br François Medal, and he shared a powerful message with the boys. This link will take you to Matt’s words, they are inspiring and challenging.
