Rugby

Introduction

Marist College has a vibrant Rugby program which strives for excellence and always endeavours to be at the highest level of Australian Schoolboy Rugby. Starting at Under 10 level, your son can progress all the way through to Under 18, where he will be given every opportunity to excel and to represent his school, the ACT and Australian Schools, if he is that committed. If he is, we will support him all the way.

Marist Rugby Club is a strong and supportive organisation, run by the parents, with the input of dedicated and professional College Staff.

You’ll find us at all home games, operating the Canteen, the Barbecue, the Merchandise Tent, the First Aid stands, laying out the ropes and pads, doing the afternoon teas, and generally doing what is necessary to ensure that our Boys have a first class Rugby experience and that their greatest supporters – YOU! – have an enjoyable and rewarding day at the footy.

How We Communicate with You

Newsletters are sent out during the regular season and we endeavour to keep you up to date on the many matters that go into your son’s Rugby. These news letters are also posted on the club’s website.

Also, our website is full of useful information, including material for parents who are new to our game, and all of our social events and everything you need to know to get your son properly kitted out, ready and at the game on time. We also endeavour to make it fun and entertaining for your son(s),with a variety of games, videos and interesting links.

Social Events

We hold an annual fund-raising dinner at the Hellenic Club, our No. 1 sponsor, and a senior players dinner at the end of each season. Team Managers are highly encouraged to arrange social events during the season for the parents, which is a way of getting to know a lot of like-minded people in a friendly setting.

Volunteers

For those who like to participate more keenly, there are numerous roles to play and volunteers, in any capacity are always welcomed.

A Final Word

Rugby at Marist has a great tradition. The game has been fostered and developed to allow Marist participants to attain all the benefits the sport has to offer – not only the physical fitness and skills but also the friendships and the camaraderie the game offers. Marist College Canberra is truly a place to participate in ‘the game they play in Heaven’.

Marist Rugby Club, which is largely run by the parents, stands in full support of the School and everything that it strives to achieve in Rugby.
